Sophie Westerlind (b. 1985, Stockholm) is an artist working across painting, drawing and ceramics. She is based between Paris and Sweden. Her current research in collaboration with curator Marta Cereda is centred on the act of attentive looking as a means of understanding the intimacy and complexity of contemporary life. Through painting with oil in various formats, she constructs a visual vocabulary that foregrounds the quiet resonance of ordinary moments: scenes drawn from everyday environments, personal archives, and encounters that might otherwise go unnoticed.

She holds an MA from Royal College of Art (2018) a BA from Central Saint’ Martins (2011) and an MA from Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia (2018). In 2019 she was awarded the Swedish national bursary for drawing, ‘The Thinking Hand’.
